Institute of Arctic Biology Greenhouse
911 Yukon Drive
The Institute of Arctic Biology Greenhouse provides a reliable, year-round environment for growing plants used in research and educational projects by faculty, graduate, undergraduate and area high school students. Other researchers from the Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station, the chemistry department, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Geological Survey have used the greenhouse. Visiting scientists from Cornell University and scientists from Sweden and Norway have also conducted research projects within the greenhouse. It simulates summer conditions all year with computerized controls that manipulate air and soil temperatures and adjust lighting, window shades and humidity.
