Spring 2012 Financial Aid Information
Most financial aid will be disbursed to a student’s UAF account on Monday, Jaunary 09th. This aid will then be applied to any outstanding debt and any credit balances will be refunded. Once the outstanding debt has been paid, the Business Office will process direct deposit refunds as soon as possible.
As with other financial processes, individuals who sign up for direct deposit will have their refund processed first followed by those who have opted to receive a paper check. Once processed by the Business Office, direct deposit can take up to five (5) days to reach a student’s bank account while printed checks can take up to two weeks. To determine if your refund has been processed or if financial aid has been posted to your account, please check UAOnline.
Please keep in mind that if you make any changes to your account once the refund has been processed, you will need to pay any remaining balance by the fee payment deadline in order to avoid late fees.
Please sign up for direct deposit if you would like to receive your refund as soon as possible.
You will not be dropped from your classes for non-payment!
Paying Tuition and Fees
NOTICE
All tuition and fees must be paid by the fee payment deadline published in the current semester class schedule. This includes room rent, meal plan costs, student activity fees, health fees and deposits. Any charges unpaid at the end of the previous semester are also due and must be paid before you can re-enroll. If you owe money to the university and submit an enrollment form and payment for the current semester, you will not be enrolled into your classes; the payment will be applied toward your debt. If the current semester payment is by check from a source other than the student, the payment will be returned to the source.
Payment for scheduled late start classes, early start classes, and one day or shortened classes are due by the first day of class.
If you are added from the wait list payment is due within 5 business days.
For late registration and late add classes payment is due within 5 business days.
Consequences of not paying tuition and fees:
If you do not pay, you will NOT be dropped from your courses. You will be responsible for all tuition and fees. The university will not initiate a drop for non-payment and you will be assessed a late fee if you are not paid in full by the drop for 100% refund date.
The University of Alaska Fairbanks reserves the right to drop you from classes, and to withhold transcripts, grades, and other services and housing contracts, for non-payment of financial obligations to the university. If the university takes such action, you will still be responsible for your full debt to the university. Registration may be withheld from any student who is delinquent in paying any amount due to the university. The registration process is not complete until the student has paid all fees and charges due the university.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks does not send out paper billing statements
An electronic bill will be generated for you on the 15th of each month and made available via UAOnline. An e-mail reminder will be sent to your UA-assigned e-mail address each time a new bill is generated (every student who enrolls in UAF classes has an email address. if you do not know your UA generated address, we can help!). A link on the UAOnline Statement and Payment History page will take you to the page where you can pay with a credit card or electronic check. To view your electronic bill, go to UAOnline and choose Student from the main menu, then Student Account, then Statement and Payment History.
