Hooper Bay Learning Center

Martha Simon, Learning Center Coordinator

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Kuskokwim Campus opened up a satellite office in the village of Hooper Bay to service residents of that region which include, Scammon Bay and Chevak. The purpose of the center is to provide an array of educational opportunities by offering classes/workshops/training which aim to increasing skills, employ-ability, knowledge, and college success of the residents of the region.

If an organization requires specialized training for their employees it can be arranged thru the Hooper Bay Learning Center. Examples of the classes and workshops are: Microsoft Word/Excel; Construction Trades Technology courses; a musical event by world renown Mike Stevens and Ray Daniels; healing workshop/circle by YKHC Behavioral Health. The arena is wide open to the needs of the region.

The onsite coordinator is available to assist students in the navigation of the university from registration of classes to whatever else their needs may be. The center provides a quiet space for students who are taking classes via distance delivery.

For whatever the education and/or training needs are of the region, we are there to assist you in meeting those goals.
