Salmon Camp 2013 will be held from July 24-30 on the shores of Lake Aleknagik in the Bristol Bay region of Southwest Alaska. Salmon Camp is a one week intensive science course where high school students are introduced to the natural history of salmon in the Wood-Tikchick Lake system, lifecycles and ecosystems of the region, sustainable and renewable energies, field research methods, and more. Through hands-on scientific observations, experimentation and data analysis, students are involved in focused research projects and present their findings to the community to complete this data intensive course.
Alaskan high school students are eligible, though the camp often consists of those going into their junior or senior years. All students who complete the 1 week camp will earn 1 science credit through the University of Alaska Fairbanks - Bristol Bay Campus.
