The Bristol Bay Campus became one of five rural campuses in the College of Rural Alaska in 1987.The campus serves an area of approximately 55,000 square miles and a total of 32 communities as far south as Ivanof Bay, as far north as Port Alsworth, as far west as Togiak, and east to King Salmon. The main campus is located in Dillingham with outreach centers in King Salmon and Togiak. BBC offers Bachelor degrees, Associate degrees, and Certificates as well as local courses covering a variety of subjects from computers to welding to art.
The Adult Basic Education (ABE/GED) Program is also part of the Bristol Bay Campus. It provides adult basic education through high school level instruction for Bristol Bay adults. Other programs include the Marine Advisory Program (MAP). The National Science Foundation is providing an opportunity for students interested in Math and Science to take classes in preparation for math foundation careers. Funding is available for interested students. Title III funds are helping the campus develop a program in land/ renewable resources. Related courses will be piloted over the next three years. Other courses to be piloted by Bristol Bay Campus will include entrepreneurship, human resources, and tourism. HUD Grant funds provide support in Business and Vocational programs and have helped support small businesses across the Bristol Bay Region. If you are interested in taking a course that is not listed in the local courses for this semester, contact Jessica Denslinger. If your organization will provide the instructor, please contact us a minimum of six weeks prior to the projected courses start date. If we need to provide the instructor, please contact us six weeks prior to projected course start date. Our portable computer lab makes it possible to offer computer courses in any village with adequate enrollment.
