Textbook Partnerships
The information provided in textbooks, course packs and related materials could be an indispensable aid to you and your students.  By working together with you and the publishers/distributors of textbooks, we can help to ensure a rewarding academic experience for your students.  We are delighted to offer this and the many other services that we provide!

Textbook Orders
We are committed to providing your students with the textbooks they need in sufficient quantities and at the best possible price.  We need your help to do this.  Because of the time involved with shipping and processing your textbooks we require all Fall 2007 orders by April 15!  Orders received past April 15th will likely not arrive in time for the start of classes.  Please contact us right away if circumstances preclude you from meeting this deadline. I am requesting that instructors provide me with an alternate method of contact over the summer break, this way I can alert you of any problems I have with your textbook adoptions.  Please feel free to contact either of us over the break concerning status of your book orders at fytext@uaf.edu. Adoptions can be done over the Internet at the following addresses:

http://www.uaf.edu/bookstore

Click on the faculty adoption link.

This address requires a username and password that you can obtain from your department administrative assistant.

If you would like to email your adoptions directly it can be done by emailing to:  fyadopt@uaf.edu .

  • Late textbook orders and changes to existing orders create costs that must be addressed.  Effective immediately, any excess air charges caused by late orders, despite the reason, will be charged to your department.  This will include any changes to existing orders.  Please help us keep the rising cost of textbooks in check by observing our deadline and avoiding last minute changes to textbook orders.

Refunds
Due to our severe space limitations, we are not able to hold books for the entire semester.  By the fourth week, we need to inventory and return most of our textbooks.  Please help us with this problem by informing your students that most textbooks will be unavailable after the fourth week of school.

We can hold a limited number of books longer if you request it.  Please let us know which books, and when they will be used.

Readoption Program

If you have a class that is only taught every other semester and you want your students to be able to sell their books back during our semester buyback, then this program is for you.

How it Works:  The instructor signs the enclosed Readoption form and commits to the Bookstore that they will use the text the next time the class is offered.  This allows the students to sell their books back at the end of the current semester rather than having to wait until the end of the Spring semester.  This agreement can be for one, two or a three-year commitment.

Advantages: It allows the students to sell books back right away rather than having to wait until the next semester buyback.  The students will be very grateful to you for this.  The UAF Bookstore will be very grateful because it will allow us to get used textbooks early.

Disadvantage:  If over the course of time you decide to not use that book even though you have committed to using it and the bookstore buys backs the books from the students, the UAF Bookstore will ask your department to pay us for the money we lost due to this.  Example:  UAF Bookstore buys 50 books at $75.00 and you choose not to use this book as agreed, the amount we will require your department to pay is:  $3,750.00.  As long as this is a book you are sure you will use this is a great program.
