Bills

 

Senate bills are written for four purposes:

1. Authorization of an expenditure

2. Creation, amendment, or rescission of a Bylaw or Bylaws

3. Creation of a referendum, or

4. Amendment or rescission of a previous Bill

 
Senate bills that are adopted by the Senate are referred to as acts and they are subject to Presidential Veto. They are signed by the President and the Senate Chair.

Resolutions

Senate resolutions are written for any of the following eight purposes:
1. Expression of the will, wish, view, opinion, sympathy, or request of the Senate;
2. Expression of the will, wish, view, opinion, sympathy, or request of the entire student body;
3. Decision of the Senate referring to matters outside the Senate, including the creation of a Policy that has effect beyond the Senate;
4. Decision of the Senate referring to matter solely to its own internal business, including the creation of and ad-hoc committee or the creation of a Policy that affects only Senators;
5. Creation, amendment, or rescission of a rule (or rules) of procedure;
6. Creation of a Senate citation;
7. Impeachment of an officer of ASUAF; or
8. Amendment or rescission of a precious resolution
 
Senate resolutions are not subject to Veto unless they purport to represent the opinion of the entire student body or to have an effect beyond the Senate. Resolutions not subject to veto are still signed by the President as a ministerial formality.
