ASRA :: Online Application

ASRA began accepting applications on February 24, at noon Alaska Time.
The application forms are secure, and hosted by WuFoo.com.

As of June 30, ASRA is full and we are no longer accepting applications.

ASRA needs two required forms in order to consider an application.
One is filled out by the applicant, one by a reference person. It is the responsibility of the applicant to contact the reference.
These are described below:

  1. The Application Form, to be filled out and submitted online.
The application requires a $50 non-refundable application fee (see required information at the bottom of this page).

Click HERE to go to the Application Form
  2. The Reference Form. Send the following link to a teacher or mentor who knows the student. The reference must respond within one week of the application.
Click HERE to go to the Reference Form
Or cut and paste this address and send to your reference: https://asra.wufoo.com/forms/reference-form/

NOTE: Applications will not be considered unless we receive these items.

An optional financial aid application form is available. Financial aid is very limited, and we cannot guarantee aid.

Applications are evaluated on a first come basis (date stamped upon submission of Application Form) with emphasis on the 500 word essay and the reference. We do consider interests, ability, age, gender, and maturity to provide the best experience for all students. Some modules have preference for older students. Preference is given to students living on campus as "residential" students (applicants who live outside Alaska are welcome to apply as "residential" students, meaning they will live in dorm instead of commuting from home).

If a student is accepted then a link will be provided via email to registration forms that require signature.

Details on the application process is described below.

The Application Form requires the following information. You will want to gather it before filling out the form.

1) Contact information for parent/guardian and student (email, phone, address).
2) GPA - we will use the honor system rather than an official transcript as in the past. The GPA can be typed in from a grade report.
3) A list of classes taken in 2007-2008 with grades.
4) * A 500 word essay. This essay is important, and it should be written by the student. It can be informal and friendly but should include reasons why the student wants to attend ASRA. The student should describe interests, hobbies, and achievements. Anecdotes are welcome. The purpose of the essay is to help us determine whether to accept a student and where to place them. We use student interests to suggest second or third choices if the first is full. We read all essays carefully (and enjoy them!)
5) Contact information for two people who can provide a reference for the student (teacher, mentor, coach...). You will need to enter an email address and phone number for these two references on the Application Form. Additionally, have the reference fill out the required Reference Form (link above).
6) Module choices - at least one, and up to six. If only one module is chosen ASRA will assume that the student does not want to attend if that choice is full.
7) A $50 application fee. The $50 application fee can be paid by credit card (online or call in), check (mail in), or cash (in person). The $50 fee is due within one week of application. (Address below) Applications will not be considered without the fee.

The application will be date stamped based on reciept of the Application Form. The Reference Form and $50 fee should follow within a week of application, and will not affect the official date of application.
