What To Bring
SUGGESTED ITEMS
• Casual summer clothes: warm and cool weather. Clothing should be appropriate for school.
• Extra pair of clean shoes for the recreation center (street shoes not allowed in the gym)
• Comfortable street or hiking shoes
• Toiletries: toothpaste/toothbrush/shampoo/conditioner/deodorant/shaver
• Flip flops - for showers
• Glasses/contacts
• Camera
• Prescription medications – must be kept in camp office and administered by ASRA RA staff
• Alarm clock
• Long distance phone card for calls home
• Swimsuit for the UAF pool – optional
• A small amount of spending money. ASRA provides all meals, snacks and most recreational materials. There will be occasional opportunities for shopping (books, ice cream, souvenirs) or activities like visiting a movie theatre.
• Small portable fan; dorms can get very warm depending on weather during July
PROHIBITED ITEMS
• Weapons of any type, including firearms, and knives
• Drugs, alcohol, cigarettes
• Flame producing devices (lighters, matches, etc)
• TVs, game systems (Nintendo, Xbox, etc) - will be provided by ASRA for student use
• Water balloons, water guns
• Laser pointers
• Hot pot, microwave, other cooking devices, or refrigerators
OTHER
Laptop computers, small music players and cell phones are allowed, but the university is not responsible for damage or theft.
Laundry facilities are on site – laundry soap & supplies will be provided by ASRA for student use.
Bedding, pillows, and towels are provided.
Telephones are installed in each dorm room. A phone list with student room numbers and emergency contact numbers will be distributed to parents by email when students are checked in.
REMOTE MODULES
Students in remote modules will receive an email list of specific items they will need for their module.
