What is ASRA?
The Alaska Summer Research Academy (ASRA) offers engaging and in-depth experiences in science and engineering throughout the year. During the summer of 2017, ASRA will offer a 2-week summer academy from July 10-21. There will be separate offerings for middle school students and high school students. Note, this is a day-only academy (no housing will be provided). Applications will open on Wednesday February 1, 2017, and the deadline to apply will be Saturday April 15, 2017.
We also offer outreach to schools across Alaska (ASRA to the Schools). ASRA is housed in the College of Natural Science and Mathematics at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
Please note that we have moved ASRA from the last 2 weeks of July for summer 2017. We have had many comments over the years from instructors, students and their families that we fall on the same 2 weeks as Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival. So for 2017 we will start a week earlier to lessen the overlap between the two programs. The new ASRA dates are July 10th through July 21st, 2017.
