Additional procedures and forms that are required of international students

Take the TOEFL test and have the scores sent directly to the University (school code is 4866)

All international students need to take the TOEFL test and Educational Testing Service (ETS) needs to send your official scores to UAF.  The school code is 4866.  The university’s minimum TOEFL requirements are 500 (paper-based test); 213 (computer-based test); or 80 (internet-based test).  The university’s minimum requirement for the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is a score of 6.5. The DAS does requrie the TOEFL or IELTS test effective May 2012 (this will no longer be waived).

Fill out the ‘Financial Statement for International Applicants’ and mail to the address below: All international student are required to complete a Financial Statement for International Students.  The link is http://www.uaf.edu/admissions/pdf/intl_financial.pdf)

International students must sign a financial statement and provide documentation that they have funds available to pay all expenses at UAF as well as round-trip transportation between their home and Alaska.  Because the application for F-1 visas requires students to affirm that they do not intend to live in the United States permanently, they are not eligible for resident tuition fees.  The minimum estimated cost for one school year at UAF for an international graduate student is $25,150.  This covers university fees, room and board on campus, and a reasonable amount of personal expenses.  It does not include transportation to and from Alaska, summer living or winter clothing costs.
