SRP-5: Members
Jesse Frey, EE Undergraduate - Project Manager
Testing of Power Inverter, IMU and SMU. Created Test sofware for both the IMU and SMU. Modified on board GPS to accomodate new version of GPS reciever. Modifying ground station GPS code to accomodate new bit protocol
2006-Present
Devin Hahne Mechanical, ME Undergraduate - Lead
Devin is part of the mechanical engineering team and has only joined the SRP 5 team as recently as the fall semester of 2004. He has spent time in the machine shop cutting parts for various instruments for the project.Currently assembly suitcase electronics
2005 - Present
- GPS Testing
- Box fabrication
Sujith Velayudhan, EE Graduate
Member of electrical engineering team curently working on the re-design of the Plasma density probe and database design for a future automated electronic documentation of the entire electrical modules in SRP5
2005-Present
- Plasma Probe
- Electrical Systems Documentation

Niladri Si, EE Graduate
Member of the electrical engineering team working on the telemetry system of SRP5. Have modified and developed the new version of the encoder - FOXIE-07, enhanced the documentation for future modifications of FOXIE. Developed the pre-modulation filter and also working on the optimization of the telemetry system.
2006-Present
Tess Casswell, ME Undergraduate - Mechanical Engineer
Tess is a senior in mechanical engineering from Soldotna, Alaska. She began volunteering with the Rocket Project as a sophomore. Her tasks for the SRP include mechanical design and fabrication; her projects have included the enclosure for the TM, various adapter plates, and housings for the pre flight battery chargers. She has also done some work in public relations, designing and publishing a pamphlet on the Student Rocket Project.
Tess spends most of her time working with the Solid Works design environment and in the machine shop, building parts - almost all of the hardware for SRP flights is designed and built in-house by the ASRP mechanical team.
2003-Present
ISIS Associated Faculty
Joe Hawkins, EE Professor - Faculty Advisor
Joe Hawkins is the principle faculty associated with the program. He has been working with the student rocket project through most of its lifetime. Joe coordinates student projects and insures that things move smoothly. He is also an excellent resource when things gowrong and guidance is needed. Finally he is the primary communicator with space grant, NASA, WALLOPS and other non-local official enitties.
Bruce Johnson, EE Ph.D candidate - Engineering Coordinator
Bruce will lead the plasma team in supporting his instrument and assure that valuable scientific data is taken with this devise. He will use this flight opportunity to flight qualify changes in this instrument for a future HEX II mission. He will also lead the push for thermal studies of the rocket surface.
