Description

Deckplate 1

Inertial Measurement Unit

A picture of the inertial measurements unit

Measures Gyroscopic Motion and accelerations

Solar Measurements Unit

A picture of the Solar Measurements Unit

Measures sunlight from UV and Sun sensors in order to determine rocket attitude

Reverse-Differential GPS System

A picture of the reverse differential GPS system

Measure GPS data. One board on the rocket is used for in flight trajectory correction. The ground station board is used primarily for tracking the rocket and collecting locational information

UV Sensor

Senses ultraviolet light intensity

Plasma Probe

The probes will be used to map the relative ion and electron densities in the D-Region of the ionosphere

Thermal Science Board

A picture of the thermal science board

Assortment of measurement devices used to develop temperature characteristics of the payload

Deckplate 2

Anti-Aliasing Filters

Performs primary data sanitization before it is passed on to other boards for data procesing and transmission.

 Telemetry Stack

This is the fourth of four board that make up the TM stack

The heart of the communication system on the rocket. All information from other boards meets here to be processed before transmission. Stacks multiple input streams into a single data stream and sends to the base station TMTX.

Deckplate 3

Magnetometer

The 3-axis magnetometer, fabricated by students at Tokai University, is used for attitude determination and detecing perturbations in the magnetic field caused by current systems in the plasma.

Flight Instruments

A Flight Instrumentation board that hold magnetometer and temperature sensors

The flight instrumentation board contains a pressure sensor, an ambient temeperature sensor, and a thermocouple for measuring payload skin temperature.

Deckplate 4

Battery Pack

The battery pack provides power for all the electrical components of the rocket.

Deckplate 5

Power System

The power board converts the voltage level from the battery pack into the voltage levels required by the cicuit board used on the payload.

Deckplate 6

TPU Antenna and Radio Box

A picture of the TPU Antenna And Radio Box

The radio receivers in conjunction with the loop antenna will be used to determine the plasma cutoff frequency. This provides a calibation point to reference the relative measurements from the probes.
