Reverse Differential GPS System
The history of GPS systems on UAF student rocket projects has thus far been unsuccessful. We are unable to tell whether it is the hardware that is unable to handle the demands of these missions. . The major problem with the GPS system on SRP IV was the antennas melting due to external rocket frictional forces. In order to determine if the receiver (Jupiter by Rockwell) is able to perform correctly we must test it thoroughly and choose more durable antennas. New receivers should also be considered to replace our current ones. These receivers are fairly inexpensive and are mechanically as well as electrically compatible with the old ones.
