Funding

The Collaborative Arts Council program is supported by the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and the Institute of Arctic Biology. The Council intends to award multiple small grants totaling $11,500, including $4,000 specifically for art/science collaborations, in this award cycle.

PROPOSAL GUIDELINES

Faculty, Staff and/or Student Collaborative Art Project

  1. Project requirements: the proposed project should involve the substantial collaboration of a member of UAF  faculty or staff, and should be outside of the usual collaboration for his/her field. We also welcome projects that go beyond collaboration within the arts e.g. between arts and science. Faculty/Staff may propose projects with collaborators who are faculty, students, or staff at UAF, or who are not affiliated with UAF.
    1. Awards are for a maximum of $2,000 for faculty/staff and $1,500 for students.
    2. Funds must be expended by May 15, 2015.
    3. Faculty, Staff  and/or Student Collaborative Art Project
    4. We've completed a performance or to put up an installation or other public display of their project, either at the UAF campus or in the Fairbanks or surrounding community, by July 1, 2015.
    5. Final Report/Budget/Images must be submitted to Collaborate@alaska.edu by October 1, 2015
  2. Collaborative Project Application: Please submit your application online at: www.uaf.edu/arts.. You will need the following information in order to complete the application:
    1. Contact names, email, and phone numbers of all collaborators;
    2. a one- to two-page project description, detailing the nature of the project and the different functions of the collaborators;
    3. a timeline for development and production;
    4. location for the proposed performance or installation at U.A.F., or in the Fairbanks or surrounding community;
    5. a detailed budget estimating cost of materials, transportation, etc. necessary to develop and produce the project (including performance or installation, and publicity). Funds can not be used for salary support.

PROPOSAL GUIDELINES

Guest Artist/Guest Speaker Presentation Nominations

  1. Requirements: the proposed speaker/artist should have demonstrated accomplishments in a collaborative arts environment. Awardees of this proposal will be responsible for managing any travel, housing, publicity, and public presentations of the guest. At least one public presentation must be held on the Fairbanks campus with the guest artist, and be open to the public.
    1. Awards are for a maximum of $2,000 for staff and faculty and $1,500 for students.
    2. Funds must be expended by May 15, 2015. 
    3. Awardees are required to manage the guest artist’s itinerary and public presentation needs.
    4. Final Report/Budget/Images must be submitted to Collaborate@alaska.edu

    1. Contact name, email, and phone number of Applicant
    2. Contact name and CV or bio of proposed Guest Speaker/Guest Artist
    3. a one-page description of the presenter and the potential audience who would attend.  
    4. a timeline for event(s)  including who would be responsible for what aspects of this presentation.
    5. location and dates for the proposed public presentation;
    6. a detailed budget estimating costs of transportation, lodging and per diem (within maximum GSA per diem rates for Fairbanks); fees; publicity; space rental; reception to hold event.
    7. If tickets will be sold for an event how is this to be managed? How would proceeds be utilized?
