How to take Art classes

Painting by Valerie Cline
MFA Show

The UAF Art Department offers a wide range of studio art classes and lecture courses in Art History and Alaskan Native Art. Many courses have limited seats for students, because of the limited studio space and their popularity. Recommend registering early to enroll in Art courses.

UAF students can register to the courses through UAOnline website and the Registrar’s Office (Eielson Building 1st floor). Most Art Department courses have prerequisites and/or require permission from instructors, except some introductory courses. Please refer to the UAF catalogue listing for prerequisite information.

Due to the high demand for some studio courses, we do not accept auditing registrations for studio art courses.

Art Department courses are also open to non-degree seeking students. Please refer to the UAF Registration web pages for signing up for Art classes as a non-degree student.
