Bioinformatics at UAF and ARSC

Now that scientists have mapped the three-billion nucleotides contained in the human body, they are trying to figure out how they all fit together. This big jigsaw puzzle will be pursued long past our lifetimes. Scientists will have to develop better tools for the analysis. One of these devices is based at the University of Alaska, where students are learning from a world leader in bioinformatics. As Nat Goodman tells KUAC's John McWhorter, supercomputers are helping science race ahead in understanding of the mechanics of life.
