International Polar Year 2007-2008 To facilitate submission of social science and humanities proposals, IASSA has launched an initiative to create a vigorous exchange of ideas, discussion, and active communication. We invite you to post your idea statements, proposal drafts, and/or any calls for prospective partnership here, in our form below. When you do so, other researchers may contact you and discuss collaboration, and we may offer our advice on the proposal process, as members of the IASSA IPY task-group will be regularly reviewing the website. They may also help connect you to prospective partners in other countries or other institutions that may not be on your personal ‘radar screen.’ Please note that you still need to submit your proposals to the ICSU at www.ipy.org/development/eoi/survey.php and/or your respective national IPY committee (see list of committees at www.ipy.org/national/committee.htm). Please also note that you are free to opt out of this IASSA project. Nevertheless, we would be grateful if you send us a short note informing IASSA about your intent. IASSA representatives on the IPY Joint Committee (IPY JC), Igor Krupnik and Grete Hovelsrud-Broda, will be involved in reviewing the whole body of submitted social science and humanities pre-proposals and in advising the committee on further strategies. Once the IPY JC accepts proposals, the projects may use the IPY imprimatur. Project leaders and individual investigators will be responsible for securing their own funding. We invite all interested scholars to read about IPY (www.ipy.org), especially the sections on social sciences and humanities, which were prepared by the IASSA IPY task-group. Directions:
