Student achievments
ANSEP at UAFhad about 180 students since its inception at UAF in 2002 and boasts a retention success of about 90%. Of approximately 75 currently active students, 42 (56%) received spring 2011 GPAs of 3.0 or higher and over a third qualified for a spring 2011 GPA award. Way to go!
Spring 2011 banquet honoring graduates
Our graduation banquet was held Saturday May 14 in the Wood Center Ballroom to thank ANSEP supporters and to celebrate the graduation of the following students:

Nazune Menka
Nazune (pictured on left), a doctoral student in the Resilience & Adaptation Program, gave the keynote address during the luncheon on April 15, 2011 at the 39th Annual Symposium on the American Indian at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah Oklahoma.
Dawn Holt
Dawn has been accepted into the PharmD program at the University of Montana's Skaggs School of Pharmacy in Missoula. Her long-erm plan is to return to Alaska to work in a hospital Setting. Way to go Dawn!

Darlene Sakeagak
Darlene Sakeagak has been accepted into the Master of Public Health Program at A.T. Still University in Missouri. This photo was taken at the 2010 AISES National Leadership Conference in New Mexico.
Julieanna Orczewska
Julieanna Orczewska will be defending her Master Thesis on March 24th 2011 at 1:00 in Butovich 109. Her thesis title is "The Molecular Basis of Aerobic Metabolic Remodeling in Threespine Stickleback in Response to Cold Acclimation".
Marjorie Tahbone
Marjorie will be attending the spring 2011 AISES Leadership Conference in Phoenix Az. and will be a keynote speaker at the Kawerak Regional Conference as Miss WEIO.
According to the Fairbanks Daily News Miner on May 3rd (http://www.newsminer.com/view/full_story/13078887/article-UAF-student-captures-title-of-2011-Miss-Indian-World?instance=home_lead_story), Marjorie has been crowned Miss Indian World. WOW!
Nathan Blackburn
Nathon has been into the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health at A.T. Still University in Mesa Arizona. He will start his studies there July 25th 2011.
