Activities for UAF ANSEP students

ANSEP provides funds for group activities.  Some past activities include:

  •  a pumpkin carving contest;
  •  a country / western concert;
  • Athabascan Fiddling Festival;
  • touring the NOAA/NESDIS Satellite Tracking Facility north of Fairbanks;
  • travelin to Chena Hot Springs resort and touring their energy generating facilities; and
  • bowling!

For this academic year, Olga Skinner (ojskinner@alaska.edu) is organizing activities.  Send her your ideas!  Remember that at least ten (10) ANSEP students must participate in the activity to qualify for ANSEP funding.

UAA Banquet January 28 2011

The UAA annual banquet is clearly a capstone event for ANSEP.  This is a national event and includes partners from other academic institutions form other states, corporate sponsors, supporters, and of course, some of our outstanding students!

About 30 UAF ANSEP students were able to attend the banquet.  Pictured here are LaOna Dewilde (right) and Oceana Francis (left) who are two ANSEP students expected to receive the PhD degrees this year.

Larry the Cable Guy

Schedule for Friday December 4th is a comedy show (Larry the Cable Guy) at the Carlson Center (Mezzanine level).  The show starts at 8:00 PM.  ANSEP will not be able to provide transportation to the event.  ANSEP is only able to provide tickets for 20 students who were selected during the Oct 27th  ANSEP meeting.  If you are one of the selected students and decide you are unable to attend, please let Robin know ASAP so that an ANSEP student on our waiting list will be able to attend.   Tickets will be made available to participating students during the December 1st ANSEP meeting.

Sheduled for the last ANSEP meeting of the semester (December 8th) is a potluck.  Start thinking about cool food to bring!
