Haida. The Raven crest of a bear with a cab
between its ears is the main figure; emerging from the bear's
mouth is an Eagle grog crest, while below this is probably a
wolf -- another Raven crest.

Haida. Eagle mortuary post.

nwc_43. House pillar pole.
Tlingit. The carved house post is one of a
pair supporting the massive ridge beams which are matched by
a similar pair in the rear of the house.

nwc_44. A painted version of the squatting
bear on a 4.5 m (15 ft) high 'Nahen', or a house partition screen.
Tlingit. An oval opening at the base of this
screen provided access to the sacred room at the rear of Chief
Shakes' house at Wrangell. The bear shown is the Brown Bear clan
crest of Chief Shakes.

Haida. This pole's eagle crest, perched atop
a shaft carved with ten rings, has recently fallen.
