My older brother, my grandma-- and my grandma Eva were living up around Chicken. He was living around there with my grandma. My older brother was maybe ten or eleven years old. He was driving the sled for my grandma. They were coming back down-- ah, they were going back to Ketchumstuck. And down toward the edge of the flat a white man was living And ah and then and then ah that whitemen with whom they were aquainted they made him a game warden and thus the people were afraid of him don't drive the sled down there don't carry meat around in your sled because the game warden lives down there" they told that to my grandma and then my grandma (said), "Hey you guys! why are you telling me that? who is this game warden you're telling me about?" my grandma says that if that meat is sitting in your sled down there, the game warden, that game warden will surely send you to jail" they said that to her and then grandma became angry "okay, it's none of your business that I drag meat around." she said, then put the meat into (the sled) then they started back down toward the water. and her grandson was driving the sled for her and down by the water that whiteman was living when they drove out onto the flat from downstream he ran out. he started running up from down by the water. "Andrew, Andrew, stop the sled down there stop the sled down there", he told him. and then my grandma (said), ah "Don't stop the sled for him! you're not going to stop the sled for him you (keep) driving the sled don't stop the sled for him" grandma tells him. even though the sled, driving the sled, he got scared, and he also didn't listen to grandma, and that whiteman had run out down there, ah, (saying) stop the sled down there stop the sled down there I'm going to look in your sled you're not going to pass by me with your sled he told him. he (Andrew) got scared and stopped the sled and then grandma is walking with a cane walking up quickly with a cane she went up to him with her cane ah and when that whiteman was going to loosen the sled (cover), all of a sudden grandma started hitting his hand and and whipping his head with her cane ouch! ouch! he said, the whiteman went away crawling back up (to his house) "Don't touch my sled why is it that you touched my sled!" my grandma told him, and I've got my gun right here for sure then that whiteman put his hand up don't don't shoot me! no he said, and then grandma in her sled whips out the gun and pointed it at him right there is where they'll find you there where you're frozen is where they'll find you she told him he went running back up with his hands in the air and grandma aimed the gun at him. he ran in (the house) slamming (the door) he started to stealthily open something (the door) a little bit this as soon as grandma hears the door, she swings the gun around at him and he runs back in and closes something (the door) quickly and then she beat up her dogs also my older brother she threatened him with a club, saying and you, didn't I tell you not to drive the sled down there$ why did you drive the sled down there keep going!" she beat up the dogs They all cried and went "yelp, yelp" ah and they continued on their way |
