[Kankaii Ibun/ Unusual News from the Seas Around Us]: Gentaku: 1805.
|Ts. copy of a book in Japanese. One page note reads: Kankai Ibun was compiled by Otsuko Gentaku (1756-1829), on the basis of reports by four Japanese sailors who in 1793 were swept away from northern Japan by a storm. After returning to Japan in 1805, they were ordered by the lord of Mutsu domain to report on what they had seen. The sailors apparently lived on/at Na-a-tsu-ka (or possibly NAAKKa) apparently Unalaska. Royall Tyler.|
