Description:

Scouler's article, a general description of various NW coast tribes, includes comparative wordlist (Heiltsuk, Bella Coola, "Chimmesyan" [Tsimshian] , and Tongass Tlingit), 131 Tsimshian items including numerals. BAE MS. 280 is Gibbs's partial copy of a lost original, 175 items, respelled; the original probably over 250 items, as (1) and (2) overlap only moderately in content.
