Description:Book. Ahtna is the language of the Copper River area of Southcentral Alaska. There are relatively few records of the Ahtna language prior to 1954. The Ahntna orthography was established in 1973 and language documentation work began in that year. This dictionary compiles words from published and archived sources as well as contributions from more than 80 Ahtna speakers. Linguist James Kari of the Alaska Native Language Center, University of Alaska Fairbanks, compiled and edited the work. 702 p.
