Why did you choose to attend UAF?

This is the only place in the world where I can get a degree in my Native language, Iņupiatun!

What do you like best about UAF?

It's a nice change of pace from city life. The classes are excellent, professors are very personable, and the overall campus community has groovy energy. Also...I love the extremities of the seasons!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I enjoy watching Monday Night Football, Saturday Night Live, listening to live music, drum dancing, taking photographs, spending time with family and friends, especially around a fire.

What extracurricular activities are you a part of?

Iņu-Yupiaq Dance Group

What is one piece of advice you would give to a prospective student interested in UAF?

Come as you are, inquire, acquaint, connect, live, learn, and take chances! You never know what opportunities may arise.

What "field work" have you done at UAF that will help you find work in your major?

I recently collaborated with a video animation student creating a short animation all in Iņupiatun.

What do you hope to do after you graduate?

I hope to be an Iņupiaq speaking nomad traveling and teaching all across the circumpolar globe and beyond.

Anything you'd like to add about yourself?

It's Debra as in zebra. :)
