A bit about me:
As a geography major, I love the outdoors and learning as much as I can about the world around me. I need music and dance to survive, and I love sharing passion!
Why did you choose to attend UAF?
Originally I chose UAF for financial reasons, planning on only staying for a year or two. However, all of that changed after I got here. I fell in love with UAF, from the campus to the faculty and all the people and activities in between.
What do you like best about UAF?
Being from a small town, a sense of community is very important to me, and UAF has that tenfold. There are so many people of all kinds and wide ranging interests, all of whom are open and welcoming!
What do you like to do in your spare time? What extracurricular activities are you a part of?
In my spare time I enjoy music: singing, playing guitar and banjo, and writing songs. Besides being an Ambassador, I play intramural Broomball and I am Vice President of the UAF Dance Team, as well as a member of the Geography Club.
What is one piece of advice you would give to a prospective student interested in UAF?
Be open to everything around you. There are so many different people, events and opportunities. You could have such experiences!
What "field work" have you done at UAF that will help you find work in your major?
I have been lucky enough to travel to different places in Alaska for mapping and physical geography work. I even got to see the Permafrost Tunnel!
What do you hope to do after you graduate?
Eventually I would like to attend graduate school, but before then I am hoping to travel and to volunteer work.
If you could live anywhere else in the world, where would it be?
Brighton, England
