Career Services is a free resource available to all UAF alumni. The department offers a variety of services to help alumni explore career options, improve job search techniques and ultimately find gainful employment. Career Services has connections with various departments on campus, as well as local, national and international employers.

Looking for a job?
You’re not alone. Labor statistics indicate the average person will change jobs more than 10 times between the ages of 18 and 40, so take advantage of the resources offered by Career Services. Counselors will work with you to sharpen your interviewing skills, help you design and prepare an effective resume and introduce you to online job databases like eCampus Recruiter and O*Net, which matches your skills with possible occupations.

5 steps to building an effective resume
  1. Tailor your resume to the position, including relevant information
  2. Condense your objective statement into a single sentence
  3. Use a positive tone and action verbs to describe your previous work experience
  4. Use bullet points starting with action verbs, avoiding narrative formats
  5. Do not feel obligated to include every job you have ever held
