Career Services is a free resource available to all UAF alumni. The department offers a variety of services to help alumni explore career options, improve job-search techniques and ultimately find gainful employment. Career Services has connections with various departments on campus, as well as local, national and international employers.
Looking for a job?
You're not alone. Labor statistics indicate the average person will change jobs more than 10 times between the ages of 18 and 40, so take advantage of the resources offered by Career Services. Counselors will work with you to sharpen your interviewing skills, help you design and prepare an effective resume, as well as introduce you to their new nationwide job database UAFCareerConnect. UAFCareerConnect is free to all active and current alumni. They will also assist you in understanding how to use websites like O*Net, which matches your skills with possible occupations.
Considering a career change?
If you're unhappy with your career and are ready to make the big change, career counselors are available to help you define your personal goals and interests and choose a new career.
Going back to graduate school?
Let a career counselor help you decide on the right school, polish your application and find employment opportunities that will work with your schedule. Career Services staff can also teach you how to write an effective curriculum vitae or resume and help you tailor your application to a specific school.
