University Advancement

Give to UAF online now!

Gifts to the University of Alaska Fairbanks are not always material. Gifts of time are equally valuable!

The UAF College of Fellows provides an excellent opportunity to volunteer your time to UAF.

UAF College of Fellows members participate in a variety of functions for the university.

  • They are advocates for the university. They help by communicating the exciting story of the achievements of our students, faculty and staff. Many members have joined in the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce fly-in to Juneau to garner support for the University from the legislature. Others are UAF's voice in the community.
  • They assist in fundraising efforts throughout the year. The main event is a fall fundraiser held annually to benefit various scholarships and talent grants. Another major event is a summer garden party at the Georgeson Botanical Garden to benefit its endowments.
  • They help to beautify the campus. The Annual Flower Planting Day, held each May, brings hundreds of volunteers to the Fairbanks campus. They transform bare grounds into colorful floral gardens within a few hours. The COF also continues to lead the "winter lights" project on campus. Each year more lights are added to trees and buildings in order to make UAF more festive during our darker months.
  • To be an active member, COF members are expected to make a financial contribution to UAF of at least $250 annually.

As the UAF College of Fellows continues to grow, so do the activities for our members to enjoy.

We invite you!
For more than 85 years the University of Alaska has served the educational, cultural and professional needs of the state. The university has emerged as a major research institution of international significance. Through the dedication, energy and resourcefulness of its faculty, staff and students, UAF has achieved an excellent reputation among institutions far larger and much older.

We know as COF members that this margin of excellence requires much support from the private sector. Perhaps James W. Frick said it best:

"Around every college and university in this nation there exists a handful of people who literally make these institutions go. These are the people who hold the future of the institution in their hands, who make today's dreams tomorrow's realities."

The UAF College of Fellows is proud to be a part of the "handful of people" who make a difference.
