UAF hosted a celebration of inspiration and appreciation on May 3 in the Great Hall on the Fairbanks campus where a new donor wall was unveiled. Annual, lifetime and Legacy Society donors were honored for their support of UAF. A slideshow of the event can be viewed at http://www.uaf.edu/advance/events/slideshow/donor06/index.html. View the donor wall listings.

Douglas and Marcel Colp and Jim and Barbara Matthews were honored for their lifetime support of UAF. Flint Hills Resources, Usibelli Foundation and the Usibelli family were recognized as corporate partners for their steadfast support of UAF over the years.

The community is invited to campus to see the new donor wall. For more information, visit http://www.uaf.edu/advance/ or contact UAF Advancement Services at 907-474-6402.

Recognition of donors is essential to the success of UAF’s advancement efforts. It is critical to thank donors promptly for their gifts in a manner appropriate to the size of their gifts and consistent with the donor’s wishes. Recognition sets the stage for continuing correspondence with the donor and lays the foundation for continuing a mutually satisfying relationship between the donor and UAF. Donors who are given the opportunity to join in UAF community activities and who are recognized for their participation are often the best sources for future gifts. Because private donors play a critical role in the growth of UAF, all gifts will be acknowledged within this gift acknowledgement system. The system ensures that donors are informed of the receipt and use of their gifts.

UAF will effectively communicate the university’s appreciation to all major donors in a systematic manner. Stewardship recognizes that each donor is unique. Stewardship attempts to bring the donor into a more intimate relationship with the university. It is the university’s responsibility to instill in the donor a confidence that the gift was given to the right institution.

Individual colleges, schools, and departments may also wish to recognize donors or groups of donors in other ways at their expense and in coordination with the Donor Relations Manager. All gifts will be recorded in the Raiser’s Edge database.
