Summer Sessions
UAF admission is available through May 1 for most summer students. Summer admission provides the opportunity to utilize the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) from the prior fall/spring academic year. This may result in the necessary financial resources to attend Summer Sessions full time.
UAF Summer Sessions offers a wide variety of academic opportunities to residents and visitors. Courses are open to undergraduate and graduate degree-seeking students, community members and qualifying high school students. Many courses in the baccalaureate core are available. Summer courses are compressed so students can focus on fewer classes at a time. Year-round opportunities include both domestic and international travel study. Alaska educational travel programs are also available.
Summer Sessions sponsors the Earn and Learn Program. Students taking six or more credits are eligible for campus employment. Summer Sessions will help students find summer jobs with the opportunity for payroll deduction for tuition, fees and books.
Each summer the UAF campus hosts special events, guest speakers, concerts, the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival, Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre and numerous activities for youth. Academies and camps for youth include the Music and Art Academies and the Alaska Summer Research Academy, as well and sports and recreation camps. The Osher Life Long Learning Institute draws on the experiences and talents of older adults (50+) in the Fairbanks area to offer new opportunities for continued learning.
