Jump AHEAD of the rest!
The AHEAD program is for high school students who would like to enroll at UAF. High school students will receive academic advising, official admission into UAF with pre-major status and dual high school and university credit.
Goals and objectives:
-
To admit qualified high school students into UAF as concurrently enrolled students (simultaneously enrolled for credit in high school and university courses).
-
To provide high school students official UAF admittance as general studies freshmen, enabling students to take advantage of early orientation and registration programs.
-
foster planned, cooperative advising between high school students, parents, high school counselors and/or teachers, and the AHEAD program coordinator.
-
To provide local high school students with unique opportunities for enriched scholastic and talent development.
AHEAD Program eligibility
Admission to the AHEAD Program is based on an evaluation of high school GPA and course work. A minimum overall high school GPA of 3.0 and of 2.5 in the core is required. You must take the ACT or SAT test prior to enrolling in UAF classes. In addition, you must have completed 75 percent of the high school academic core curriculum required for admission. Once you have earned a high school diploma you may apply to change your status from pre-major to baccalaureate degree-seeking.
Tuition and fees for AHEAD students are based on the current tuition and fee rates at UAF and are your responsibility. The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District will not pay tuition costs, and state and federal aid is not available to AHEAD students.
