National Merit Scholars at UAF: On top of the world
UAF has a long history of sponsoring generous scholarships for National Merit finalists. We are eager to recognize the achievements of outstanding students, especially including National Merit finalists. If you are a National Merit semifinalist or finalist, we encourage you to apply to UAF and to submit a scholarship application.
National Merit Scholars at UAF pursue a robust education in rugged surroundings. UAF professors are known both for their teaching excellence and for their research accomplishments. Here in Fairbanks, you'll find professors documenting and preserving indigenous languages, performing online in real-time concerts with musicians from around the globe, and searching out the causes of sudden infant death syndrome, to name just a few examples.
Come to UAF, see the world
Elyse Yeager came to UAF from her hometown of Girdwood, Alaska, and found a surprise waiting for her: a school that was more than she expected. While pursuing a math degree at UAF, Elyse also studied as an exchange
student at the University of Tübingen in Germany, where she was a violinist in the Dane Orchestra. We believe that diverse experiences open the doors to a truly stimulating education. As Elyse says, "I wasn't sure that I wanted to go to college here in my home state, but actually I'm really glad I did. I love the arts community in Fairbanks, the opportunities for studying abroad and the fact that a math major can be involved in so much more than math here."
