Discover UAF: Inside Out

Choosing a college is a big decision. We can make it easy.

Students and parents will have the opportunity to ask questions, get answers and experience life at UAF during UAF Inside Out, a preview event designed to let you see what the University of Alaska Fairbanks is all about--from the inside out. This event for high school juniors and seniors will be held Friday, March 8. Parents and guests are welcome to attend during the day. We'll turn the university inside out so you can get the real story on financial aid, the admission process, classes and professors at UAF, extracurricular fun, and our outstanding academic programs.

Come in and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while checking in, and meet UAF’s schools and colleges.

8:40 a.m.

Welcome (Davis Concert Hall, Fine Arts Complex)
Inspiration starts here. Find out how your day will inspire you to become a Nanook.

9:15 a.m.

STUDENTS

PARENTS
Transitioning to College.
(Wood Center C-F)
Every year millions of parents send their children off to college. We will provide valuable tips to help make the transition easier, and help you be the best possible parent of a college student.

10:15 a.m.

Walking Tours (Tours depart from the Wood Center Ballroom)
Pack your comfortable shoes and your warm winter gear. This walking tour will take you through residence life, academic buildings and the recreational facilities. Accommodations are available for individuals with mobility challenges.

11:45 a.m. - 1:45 p.m.

Choose your own schedule
There are so many options in college. Take this time to create your own schedule and check out a few of our inspiring opportunities, services and places.

11:55 a.m. – 12:25 p.m. (30 minute session)

  • Admissions Process (Wood Center C-F)
    Let us be your guide. We’ll take a walk through the admissions application and requirements.
  • On your own:
    • Lunch (Lola Tilly Commons)
      Enjoy a delicious buffet lunch at our campus dining hall.
    • Honors House (520 Copper Lane)
      Drop into the honors house to say hello and take the tour.
    • Bookstore (Constitution Hall)
      Take a break to check out the apparel in the bookstore. Also find out about how our textbook system works here at UAF.
    • Safety First! (Whitaker Building)
      Visit the Whitaker Building, home of the UAF Police Station, the University Fire Department, University Health & Counseling, and Disability Services.
    • Art Walk (Fine Arts Complex)
      Take a stroll through the UAF Student Art Gallery.

1:15 – 1:45 p.m. (30 minute sessions)

  • Explore! Study Abroad or Away (Wood Center C-F)
    Find out about how you can study abroad internationally through the Study Abroad program and/or study away through the National Student Exchange program.
2 p.m.

STUDENTS
UAF Student Panel (Wood Center Ballroom)
Hear what inspired our current students to attend UAF. These student representatives are here to answer your questions.

2 p.m. PARENTS
Taking Care of Business Panel (Wood Center C-F)
Admissions, Financial Aid, Residence Life, Student Services and the Business Office. Find out how to help you and your child navigate the transition to college.
3 p.m. Grand Finale! (Wood Center Ballroom)

Cost

Nothing! There is no charge to attend the program & lunch is included. You are responsible for providing your own travel and accommodations.

If you can't make it to Inside Out, consider coming to UAF for an individual campus visit. High school juniors are invited to attend UAF Inside Out each fall or schedule an individual campus visit. Also, check out the other Discover UAF events we have planned this year.
