It's never too early to start thinking about the steps you'll need to complete to register for classes. Once you have finished your admissions application and received your letter of acceptance you will need to complete the follow steps:
- Academic advising
Academic advising is crucial to your educational success and required for all students prior to registration each semester.- Declared majors: set up an appointment with your academic advisor.
- Undeclared majors, pre-majors, or students in need of general advising: make an appointment with the Academic Advising Center.
- Certificates, occupational endorsements, or associate degree students: contact UAF's Community and Technical College.
- Rural students:
Attending the UAF main campus: contact Rural Student Services.

- Find your classes
Use the Course Finder to look up courses, or visit the computer kiosks specifically for registration in the lobby on the ground floor of Signers' Hall. - Register early
- View the current dates and deadlines for class registration.
- Visit the registration guide (Fairbanks students) or review the quick guide to registration (PDF) for directions. If you are attending a rural campus, visit the College of Rural and Community Development's class schedule.
- Watch a video on how to register using UAOnline.
- Register and pay for classes online at uaonline.alaska.edu.
Don't forget to complete these other to-do items before you arrive:
Financial aid: Make sure to fill out the FAFSA and connect with the Financial Aid office.
Buy textbooks online before you arrive.
Sign up for a meal plan with Dining Services. If you plan to live in a campus residence hall, you need to complete and return the Dining Services application (PDF).
Housing and mail: If you plan to live on campus, you must complete and return the residence hall application (PDF). Return the student mailbox application (PDF) if you want to receive mail on campus.
Health inventory and immunization record (PDF): Required of all new students before move-in.
New Student Orientation: Required for most new students. You can even register online.
