Starting this month and ending in January 2012, Auxiliary Services will be replacing the existing University ID card system with new equipment. Due to the progressive steps of this conversion, there will be outages in the old system’s service. The PolarExpress Office will advise all affected departments of these outages in advance. The majority of these changes will be completed behind the scenes with minimal impact to ID card users.
Temporary outages of the card reader system may occur between December 26 and December 30. There will be readers throughout campus that may not have the capability to process BearBucks and MunchMoney for short periods of time. This will impact card readers in copy machines, vending machines, and all other campus-wide point of sales.

It is important to note that all students, staff, and faculty holding old PolarExpress cards and Departmental cards that do not have an ID number displayed on the front of the card need to bring their old cards in to the PolarExpress Office to exchange them for new cards, free of charge. The older cards will not work after December 25, 2011.
The PolarExpress office is located in the Eielson Building Room 116, and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5 pm, with extended hours on Thursdays until 5:30pm.
Over the holiday break, the office will be open during limited hours on the following days:
- December 21, 22, 23, 2011: Open 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
- December 26-31, 2011: Closed
- January 1- 3, 2012: Closed
- January 4-6, 2012: Open 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
