Field Trips

Extend your stay in Juneau and join us for Field Trips to local energy projects. Southeast Alaska has a long history of utilizing innovative solutions to their energy challenges. Field trips will tour a variety of different projects with plenty of time for questions.

Cost: $25, includes transportation and airport drop off.

All tours will take place on Friday, August 30 from 8-11am. Transportation between sites will be provided by motor coaches and a local tour guide. All buses will include space for your luggage in the cargo hold and a drop off at the Juneau Airport by 11am for attendees who are on afternoon flights, including the 12:30 flight to Anchorage. All other participants will be dropped off at Centennial Hall at 11:30.

Tour A: A Highlight of AEL&P Projects

Since 1893, this local investor-owned utility, Alaska Electric Light and Power Company, has been heralded for being a leader in innovative power solutions for Southeast Alaska. This tour will visit several sites, including one of the oldest hydropower plants in the state!

Tour B: Renewable Energy Projects of Juneau

A mixed bag of several renewable projects around town including ground source heat pumps, hydro, biomass, and waste-to-energy.

Tour C: Ground Source Heat Pumps

Juneau is home to several new commercial ground and sea-water source heat pumps as well a growing residential market. Visit commercial and residential projects with a local expert to see if this technology is viable for you.
