George Roe is a research professor with ACEP and the Institute of Northern Engineering at the University of Alaska / Fairbanks. His focus areas include energy and energy management, with emphasis on their relation to sustainable community development / capacity building. George has 35 years of experience at Boeing, where he worked in research and development efforts for a range of technologies (e.g., thermal management, vehicle subsystems, crew protection, energy harvesting, energy storage, alternative energy) and their integration with products sold by Boeing and its team mates. He has served in both engineering and management capacities on multiple company, industry and government-funded endeavors. His most responsibilities have addressed technology maturation in the areas of energy management systems for aircraft. He holds Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington.
