Background and Research Interests
Dr. Muhando joined the Alaska Center for Energy and Power in 2010 where he coordinates research on renewable energy technologies geared toward successful grid integration of existing diesel generator installations.
Prior to that he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Japan under the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) program.
Dr. Muhando's professional expertise is sustainable energy development, with research interests in adaptive control of nonlinear dynamical systems, power system stability, and intelligent control of wind energy conversion systems.
Curriculum Vita
Dr. Muhando received the D.Eng. degree in interdisciplinary intelligent systems engineering from the University of the Ryukyus, Japan, in 2008. He holds a M.Eng. degree in mechanical systems engineering from the same university, awarded in 2005.
In 1994 he received a B.Tech. degree in production engineering from Moi University, Eldoret, Kenya.
He has worked in several industrial concerns in Kenya and Belgium within manufacturing (production, maintenance) and quality assurance. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and maintains active membership with the IEEE Power & Energy Society.
