Iceland Student Competition
Are you a current student or recent graduate interested in Energy Policy and Travel to Iceland?
The Opportunity: Receive a stipend to travel to Iceland to participate in the 2012 Alaska Policy and Technical Tour (November 24-29th) organized by the Institute of the North.
The Challenge: Work with mentors at the Alaska Center for Energy and Power at UAF, the University of the Arctic member institutions, and the Alaska State Legislature to develop and explore energy policy or technical questions relevant to Alaska. This includes conducting background research in preparation for the visit, writing a paper outlining your conclusions, and presenting your findings to the Alaska State Legislature in early 2013 and University of the Arctic institutions at the UArctic Council meeting, June 2013, in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Application Deadline is October 1st. You must be 21 years old by date of travel to apply. You must have a valid passport at the time of travel. Preference is given to: UA students or recent graduates, applicants with a demonstrated interest in Alaska issues, applicants that can contribute partial funding through an external source.
