Wind Turbine Resources

The Alaska Wind for Schools program uses a basic system configuration for each school project. The system incorporates a single 2.4 kW SkyStream™ wind turbine, a monopole tower (45'-60'), disconnect boxes at the base of the turbine and at the school, and an interconnection to the school’s electrical system.

Being that 2.4 kW is a small turbine it is not expected to produce enough energy to supply a large portion of the school’s power needs, even at low-load periods during the summer or at night.

The data from the Skystream™ is transmitted through a wireless Zigbee and streamed online to the Idaho National Lab website for teachers and students to freely access.
