Begich Middle School in east Anchorage recently gained School Board approval to install a turbine on its campus as part of the Alaska Wind for Schools program.  Lead by Scott McKim, the technology teacher, and a group of motivated students, Begich Middle School hopes to be the first school in Anchorage to power part of their school by the wind.  Although the turbine is not yet installed, students in McKim's technology classes have already designed their own turbine blades and learned about the benefits and issues related to wind power.
