ART

Description:

Art degrees: Bachelor of Art in Art (B.A. in Art), Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) and Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.)


General Interest Area:

Visual Arts including these concentration areas: Painting, Drawing, Printmaking, Ceramics, Native Art, Sculpture, Metalsmithing and Computer Art.


High School Background:

Some experience in any of the above fields is desired but not necessary.


Plan of Study:

University core courses and selected electives. Art students take a core of foundation art courses:Beginning Drawing, Painting, Color and Design, 2-D or 3-D Design, Sculpture, Art History and a selection of classes in a concentration with a secondary and sometimes a tertiary area. The BFA program is applied for at the junior year and requires more art history and studio art courses but does NOT have a minor required.

Check out examples of our students and faculty's artwork. Stop by the art department for a visit or to set up a tour. Come and see our facilities and meet our students and see our art shows in the UAF Art Department Gallery.


Career and Graduate Possibilites:

Gallery artist, Art teacher, Computer Animator, Computer Artist, Gallery positions, Painter, Printmaker, Sculptor, Concept Artist, Ceramicist (Potter), Non-Profit Arts Organizations, Museum Assistant, Model Maker, Visualizer and more.
