UAF Climbing Wall

The UAF climbing wall in the Student Recreation Center (SRC) has been recently upgraded. To climb on the UAF Climbing Wall, you must take a climbing certification course to ensure that you are familiar with safe and proper climbing and belaying techniques. If you have already taken a certification course, you will need to take a re-certification course as there are new hazards to be aware of with the new wall upgrades. Certification courses are offered periodically throughout the fall and spring semesters and are taught by club members. There is a $10 fee to take the certification course, and the proceeds go towards the club's upgrade and maintenance costs for the climbing wall. To sign up for a certification course, please contact the Student Rec Center or Stan Justice. The fee for the re-certification course is $5. Once you have successfully completed the course, you will receive a climbing certification card, which you must present to the ID checker at the front office when you enter the SRC. Your card must be attached to your harness or chalk bag. It must be visible while you are climbing on the wall. Climbing harnesses are available to check out at the SRC front office.
